You may be happy to know that innovations in the streaming industry have led to the development of a device called Firestick, which can do this magic.

But before that, if you are unaware of the firestick and Kodi, let’s have a glimpse of them first.
What is Firestick?
Amazon Inc., the e-commerce gorilla, has developed a device called firestick. This device comes in various formats viz. firestick, firestick lite, firestick tv. In this article, we’ll discuss about firestick. It’s a pen drive shaped device that can turn any screen having an HDMI port into a smart tv. A remote control and an adapter are also provided along with this device. All you have to do is insert this device in the HDMI port of the display device of your choice and play with the remote. What is Kodi?
Kodi is a free and open-source software (FOSS), which was designed for home entertainment. Various geeks around the world are continuously updating this foss for around two decades. And the Kodi we have today is the most advanced brainchild of all the developers behind it. It was not always called Kodi. Originally Microsoft developed it for Xbox and called it Xbox Media Center (XBMC). Later, Microsoft abandoned its development. But, the movie geeks around the world were already a fan of this piece of work. They took it as a challenge and made it much much better than it was earlier. Apart from renaming XBMC to Kodi, the software was also placed in the category of foss, so that anyone can contribute to the project.
What does Kodi do?
To understand what does Kodi does, let me clear the dust first. And that is, Kodi is not a streaming application like Netflix and Amazon Prime. So, it doesn’t have its own library of unlimited streaming media content or quality streaming links or library of movies. Users will have to provide options to their content to Kodi to enjoy tons of streaming. Yes, it is a media player, but definitely not an ordinary one. For example, if your firestick is incompatible with a website’s media content, just pass that link through your Kodi app and see the magic yourself.
Kodi can turn any computer, tablet or mobile into a digital set-top box or streamer. This provides you with the ability to stream files from the internet, home network or local storage. On top of that, there are several add-ons developed by Kodi developers and 3rd party addons which extends and add various features to Kodi
