We have probably all used Google Play once on our device. Google Play is a fantastic store for Android users, mainly because it was created as an official store for apps, games, music, movies, e-book, etc. Amazon FireStick as well as Fire TV devices work with Amazon Store, and because of the Amazon-Google long stream beef, you can’t use the Play Store on these devices. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, and in this article, we’ll walk you through the process of installing the Google Play installer on your Fire TV Stick device. In order to install Google Play on Fire TV Stick device, you should install a third-party app called Aptoide TV.
Why VPN is important?
Privacy is a major worry in today’s digital age. Scammers, hackers, ISP, as well as your government are all most certainly keeping an eye on and following you. And so, finding a way to stay anonymous and safeguard your privacy in the digital world of the internet makes a lot of sense.
That’s why we strongly suggest you install a VPN. By doing so, you can enjoy the time spending on the internet without worrying too much. VPN hides all of your data and safeguards your privacy.
What is Aptoide TV
Aptoide TV is a free alternative app store for Android TV and set-top boxes. The great thing about Aptoide is that you can use it not only on your mobile device but also on larger screen devices, such as high-definition televisions. Because we won’t be downloading the software from the main store, we’ll need to make sure that FireStick will approve the installation.
To allow a third-party app to be installed, complete these steps:
#1 Go to the top menu bar and choose Settings from the FireStick home menu using your remote control. Then Click the ‘My Fire TV’ button.
#2 Click ‘Developer Options’ from the next screen.
#3 In the Developer settings section, using your remote, choose the Apps from the Unknown Sources box.
#4 Skip the warning & when the prompt appears, press ‘Turn on.’ Certain third-party apps are capable of destroying your device. Aptoide, on the contrary, is a known and totally secure app. You should not be concerned.
You have completed all the steps, and now you can successfully add a third-party app (in this case, Aptoide) onto your device.
How to Install Aptoide Store as a Play Store Alternative on FireStick
Following that, you will discover how to install the alternative Google Play Store (Aptoide) on your Fire Stick devices. Downloader and the ES Explorer programs can be used to install this software.
The Downloader is the most often used software on the FireStick for side-loading third-party apps. However, because it is not accessible in every Amazon Store location, it can be side-loaded in a few countries. ES File Explorer, on the other side, may be downloaded from the Amazon Store anywhere.
I will provide the steps for both of them so you can have both options ready to use.
1st Method: How to Use Downloader to Setup Aptoide.
Before we begin, the Downloader application should be installed on your device. So make sure you check that. If it is missing, it can be found at the Amazon Store.
After installing the Downloader application, proceed to the next step to download Aptoide onto your FireStick or FireTV.
#1 On the Fire Stick start menu, run the Downloader app.
If you can’t find the Downloader app on the start menu, using the remote select “Apps” while holding down the Home button. A list of all applications will be displayed; you have to scroll down and find Downloader and launch it.
#2 In the Downloader start menu, check the left sidebar if the Home selection is selected.
#3 You’ll see the cursor blinking in the URL field. Follow the steps below to use the keypad screen :
- Using the remote, click the “Select” button.
- Next, insert the URL https://www.firesticktricks.com/store and then click either the “Play” option on the remote or the “Go button on the keypad.
- Below you can see a more detailed explanation.
This is the URL to Aptoide, a FireStick application that works in the same way as Google Play.
#4 Your Aptoide APK fill will now begin downloading to your device’s storage.
#5 You’ll see the following screen after the download is complete. Continue to press the remote’s down arrow until the ‘Next’ button on the bottom right side changes to ‘Install,’ now select and click the ‘Install’ button.
#6 As a result, the installation status screen will appear. When the notification of the “App installed” appears, two options will come along with it one the “Done” option and the other the “Open” button.
#7 We don’t want to launch the app straight away, so click the ‘Done’ button (However, if you truly want to, hit ‘Open’; the choice is yours!)
#8 The following dialog box will now display. Because the program is already loaded, you do not need to select the “Install” option. Rather, uninstall the APK file by selecting the ‘Delete’ option. We no longer need it because it will take up a lot of storage space.
This was the last step. The Aptoide is now successfully installed on your FireStick.
2nd Method: Install Aptoide on FireStick Using ES File Explorer
A quick side note: If Aptoide has been installed using Downloader, you do not need to utilize this approach and complete all of the steps. This is just an alternative method. Also, keep in mind that if you intend to use ES File Explorer’s sideloading functions, it will cost you 9.99$ each month.
If Downloader is not on your preferences and you work better with ES File Explorer, or if you couldn’t install it, or for whatever reason you have, I would provide down below all the steps to install Aptoide on Fire TV Stick.
To install the Google Play alternative on Fire Stick, you can use two ways, one with the computer and the other without a computer.
The way that does not involve a computer is more straightforward and faster but keep in mind that it does demand a $9.99 premium subscription. This is the method we’ll start with. If Aptoide APK is already installed on your PC, you can test the second approach later.
1- The steps to install the ES File approach that does not include a computer are outlined below.
#1 Explore the Tools area on the left panel in ES File Explorer. Choose ‘Download Manager’ from the Tools submenu, then press the ‘+’ button at the bottom.
#2 The dialog window for downloading should now display.
#3 In the Path section, insert https://firesticktricks.com/store. You can input whatever name you like within the Name area, but it must be related to the program we’ve installed. For instance, I gave the title Aptoide TV, It also happens to be the name of the application I’m installing.
#4 After clicking the “Download Now” option, wait for the installation of the APK.
To execute the APK file after downloading it, press the ‘Open file’ option. As a result, the installation process will start.
#5 On the next prompt, click “Install.”
#6 On the next screen, using the remote, repeatedly press the ‘Down’ key, until a bottom-right button is highlighted. In the bottom right corner, the ‘Next’ button will be replaced by a ‘Install’ button. Click it to proceed further.
#7 This is the screen you’ll see after installing the app. To begin using the app right now, click the ‘Open’ button. If not, click the ‘Done’ button. The app may then be launched from the Apps & Games menu.
These were all the steps, the Aptoide is successfully installed.
2- The steps to install the ES File approach that does require a computer are outlined below.
You can follow these steps either on Mac, Linux, or Windows. Before we start, ensure that both the FireStick and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
You must first install the Aptoide APK file to your computer before installing the ES File Explorer software from the Amazon Store on your FireStick device. Simply search for ES File Explorer in the upper left corner of the Fire Stick main screen, then download it by following the easy onscreen steps.
#1 Select ES File Explorer from the Apps & Games menu. Scroll down to see the Network menu on the left panel expanded. Now, as shown in the figure below, click “View on PC” from the various network options.
#2 Now press the ‘Turn on’ option. An FTP url should now be displayed.
You will be given your address. Make a note of that as you must input it into your computer. It is possible to use it from your computer to handle every one of your FireStick files and folders.
#3 Return to your computer and go to a folder. From the ES Explorer page, enter the FTP address for your Fire TV Stick into the address bar of your PC’s folder window and hit Enter.
The snapshot below was captured with Windows 10. This, however, will also work on any other operating system.
#4 Copy and paste the Aptoide APK into any ES File Explorer folder that you created using the FTP URL in the third step. If required, you may even create a new folder.
I typically choose the ‘Download’ folder when copying the APK file from my PC. The decision is entirely yours!
#5 Return to the FireStick and, if it isn’t already open, launch ES File Explorer.
Open the “Local” menu and then click the second Home option. For further information, please see the picture below.
#6 Then, using the remote, browse to the ‘Download’ folder on the right hand side.
#7 When you access the folder, the Aptoide APK file will be visible.(Do you recall? That file was saved in the Downloads folder. Make the proper choices if you copied it to some other folder.)
#8 Press the ‘Select’ button on your FireStick remote to launch the APK file. If the ‘Properties’ screen appears, click the ‘Install’ option.
#9 To confirm your choices and install the software, scroll down to the bottom and press ‘Install’ on the bottom of the picture.
#10 When you install the program, you will see something like this. If you need to use it right away, click ‘OPEN’; alternatively, choose ‘DONE’ to launch it later.
Go ahead and explore the Google Play alternative (Apotide) now that you’ve installed it.
All of your apps may be accessed under the ‘Your Apps & Games’ category. To do so, just click and then hold the ‘Home’ button on the remote, then select ‘Apps’ from the menu that displays.
Keep in mind that newly installed apps do not display on the home screen and are instead found at the bottom of the Apps list. Rather than accessing it quickly, you should move frequently used apps to the front of the list.
Apptoide, as it can be seen, is toward the bottom of the list. Therefore, you may simply move it up. Scroll down and click on Aptoide.
Hold down the ‘Select’ button on the remote. Alternatively, click the Menu button on the remote and select ‘Move’ from the menu that appears in the lower right corner, as seen in the screenshot provided down below:
Push the ‘Up’ direction button on the remote again and again till the Aptoide app shows in the upper row.
Now, choose the Aptoide app symbol from the upper row by clicking the ‘Select’ button. Turn back to the home screen of your FireStick, and the Aptoide symbol will be there!
The Aptoide Home Screen should seem like that at this moment. All else is quite straightforward. Using the ‘Search’ tool on the upper left, you may look for any program. Browse Aptoide and you can download all the programs you require.
Although Google Play Store is excellent for your FireStick, unfortunately, you can’t use it anymore. Anyway, you can still get all its benefits by installing an alternative option just like the Aptoide is. We hope that you found this long tutorial easy and effective.
