In this article, I will cover Exodus Redux and Exodus Kodi Addon (often called V8). Independent users who have used and enjoyed both add-ons have different opinions on both and value them for various reasons. While I will be explaining the installation process of both Exodus Kodi Addon and Exodus Redux, the user experience has shown that the first one is better due to its speed and capacity of content. I will explain these reasons and more at the end of the article after explaining the installation process.
Important note: You can use the installation process outlined in this article to upgrade an existing version. You will not have to worry about losing any data by doing so. If you want to follow the steps, make sure you do not uninstall the current version already present on your device.
The creators of the first Kodi Exodus add-on abandoned it. However, a community of independent developers recently resurrected it and are giving it constant updates. They make sure Kodi Exodus is providing its users with the best content.
Below, I will explain the very few simple steps necessary to download Exodus Kodi Addon and Exodus Redux.
Legal Problems that May Arise and How to Avoid Them (VPN installation suggested)
Before we get started, I have to give you some information about the privacy you have in this Addon. As you might be aware (or have been told), the government and your Internet service provider will monitor what you open at all times. These Kodi add-ons include copyrighted content streaming services (including free content like TV shows, movies, various sports, and so on), which might land you in legal trouble that you would not like to deal with to watch a football match.
To avoid all the unpleasantries, we make it our priority to always advise Kodi users to connect to a VPN service while streaming. Our primary preference is ExpressVPN – which can be installed in a few simple steps and works perfectly for all streaming devices. I would also recommend this to you because I have firsthand experience with it. Therefore, I can attest to its effectiveness. ExpressVPN can and will get around any limitations imposed by your location, government surveillance, as well as ISP throttling.
That is not to imply that we support or endorse unlawful activity, such as knowingly using copyrighted materials. Nonetheless, we want our users to be able to enjoy their privacy without fear of what could happen if they dare to watch their favorite film.
Installing Exodus Redux
There exist two alternatives to complete the installment of Exodus Redux.
The first alternative is through the usage of Git Browser. This alternative is valid if you have already installed Git Browser. GitHub (Git Browser) is the most popular version control hosting service and free software distribution platform. It is the house of thousands of codes and software programs, including software development companies, independent developers, and much more. It is also one of the most widely used hosts to Kodi add-on repositories. For those who do not own Git Browser, a quick search on the internet will provide you with the knowledge you need to install it.
Now that we got that part cleared up, we will continue.
Step one: Open Git Browser.
To do so, go to Kodi Homescreen and then proceed to Add-ons> Program Add-ons> Indigo Kodi Addon
> Addon Installer> Git Browser.
Step two: Enter the username I-A-C.
Firstly, if an instruction prompt pops up, delete it by pressing the back button, ESC button, or OK button (this depends on the type of device you are following this guide).
Now, click on Search by Github Username.
Click New Search, and enter this username I-A-C. Continue by pressing the OK button.
Step three: Install the zip file necessary.
Click on the zip file repository.exodusredux-0.0.1.zip (it might be that the zip file has a slightly different name, but that is okay. Click on the latest downloaded zip file).
A prompt that will appear will give you two options, Install or Cancel. We want the file to Install, so that is what you will select.
When the process finishes and the file installs, click Continue.
Step four (Final Step!): Install Exodus Redux.
Go back to the Kodi Homescreen and go to Add-ons (on the home screen’s left).
On the top left, click the icon that looks like an open box or the package installer icon.
Go to Install from Repository> Exodus Redux Repo> Video Add-ons> Exodus Redux> Install.
Once you have completed the previous steps, be patient as the Addon installs. You will get a notification in the right corner at the top when the installation is complete.
You know that you have finished the installation with that notification, and you can use the Exodus Redux.
The Installment of Exodus Redux
Furthermore, we will look into the second alternative of installing Exodus Redux (this alternative does not require having the Git Browser on your device).
Exodus Redux Kodi does not take part in the formal Kodi Add-on Repository. This fact makes this Add-on a third-party add-on. Due to this, for the installment to happen you should turn on (if you have not already done so) Unknown Sources.
To do this, open Settings and proceed to System (or System Settings depending on the update you are working with at the moment).
Choose Add-ons from the options on the sidebar located on the left. From there, go to the right of the display and turn on Unknown Sources.
A Warning Message will display, but you do not have to worry about that, so click Yes.
After enabling Unknown Sources, you will return to the main screen of Kodi, and you will follow the next few steps to install Exodus Redux.
Step one: Install Exodus Redux Repository.
- Open Settings> File Manager.
- Go to Add Source and click where it says <None> on the next window.
- Type the URL that I will provide here: https://i-a-c.github.io and click OK.
- Enter a name for this media source (I would suggest Diino Redux but it is completely up to you).
- Go back to the home screen again and choose Add-ons.
- Once you are there navigate the categories, and select Install from Zip File.
- Click on the file with the name you chose earlier (the file that I suggested to name Diino Redux).
- Choose the zip file titled repository.exodusredux-0.0.8.zip you see displayed on the screen.
(Important Note: Due to the update – different updates may have other zip file names, choose the zip file that you see there anyway)
9. Wait a couple of seconds until you receive a notification that confirms the installation. It should appear on the right corner at the top of the window and should say Exodus Redux Repo.
After you have completed these procedures, you are reaching the finishing line. All that is left is to install the application, and you will be able to enjoy a variety of streaming services.
Step two: The installment of Exodus Redux Kodi Addon.
- Then go back, find and click Install from Repository, and then open Exodus Redux Repo.
UPDATE: The installation process comes to a halt here, after opening the Exodus Redux Repository there are no items available inside as you can see in the picture down below.
- Access Video Add-ons and from there, go to Exodus Redux.
- Once you open it, you should see a page like below. Choose the Install option at the bottom.
- Users working with Kodi 18 will also notice a popup window that shows all of their files, and one of them will be the file we are downloading, press OK.
- Now, all that is left to do is wait for the installation to be complete; you will be notified of that with a notification on the top-right corner, just like it happened when you downloaded Exodus Redux Repo.
Once you get that notification, you are done and can finally enjoy the application and what it provides.
The Installment Process of Exodus V8 Kodi Addon
Since now we are done with installing the Exodus Redux, we will move onto the installment procedures of the original Kodi Exodus add-on. The steps provided work for Kodi 18 Leia update. If you have not updated your Kodi and are still working with an older version, you should upgrade your software or these steps will not work for you.
Note: The first step that we mentioned at the beginning of this article, to turn on Unknown Sources, is also valid for this process in the case of this being your first time installing a third-party program.
Do not worry. The links provided in these articles are checked and do not contain a virus or any threat to your streaming device.
If you have not done so already, you should consider installing a VPN to protect your privacy and prevent access to control from the outside. I would recommend downloading ExpressVPN, as I previously said. I have used it and will continue to use it with all of my streaming devices. Its effectiveness is guaranteed, and there is no need to worry if the installation will bring viruses or something along those lines. To install the VPN, go to this link https://www.expressvpn.com/go/vpn-software/vpn-fire-tv-stick and proceed to do so.
Now that all the boring talk is out of the way let’s start with the installation process.
Step 1: Open the Kodi application on your Fire device (TV or PC). From the home page, go to the top-left corner of the screen and press the Settings gear button.
Step 2: Go to File Manager and then select Add Source.
Step 3: Where it says None, replace it with this exact URL http://lazykodi.com. In the empty field, choose a name for the file (Diino Lazy or whatever you prefer).
Step 4: Return to the main screen and choose Add-ons on the sidebar on the left. From there navigate the categories and select Install from Zip File.
Step 5: On the table that pops up, choose Install from Zip File and select the file with your chosen name (the file where I suggested the name Diino Lazy).
UPDATE: The installation process comes to a halt here because there are no zip files available in this location. You can see it from the picture below.
Step 6: Click on Zips to install the Kodi Bae Repository for Exodus, and choose KodiBae.zip.
Step 7: When you are done with all of this, you should expect the notification on the top-right corner that says Kodi Bae Repository Add-on installed. Once you receive that notification, you are ready to proceed with the other step.
Step 8: On the same window that you did the previous step, choose Install from Repository, and click Kodi Bae Repository.
Side note: Step 9 is additional and only valid to users who encounter Indigo dependency while installing this version of Exodus. Therefore, to ensure you do not face that error, I will help you install the TVAddons repository.
Step 9: Choose Add-on Repository> TVADDONS.CO Add-on Repository> Install.
Step 10: Now, you should return to Kodi Bae Repository, and from there, select the Video Add-Ons option.
Step 11: Once you have selected the previously-mentioned folder, a collection of all Kodi add-ons will show on the screen. You should look for Exodus and choose that. Then, you will click Install.
Side note (yes, another one, bear with me): In case you are doing this process in Kodi 18 Leia, a prompt that mentions all the extra Kodi add-ons that will install along Exodus will show. Select OK.
Step 12: Now, all that is left to do is wait for the process of downloading Exodus Kodi Addon to end. By going to Kodi Bae Repository you can install it. You will get a notification that this process has finished successfully on the right corner at the top of the shown window.
Exploring Exodus Redux Addon on Kodi
You can open it by going to Add-ons and then choosing Video Add-ons.
You will be faced with all the categories that this Add-on provides, like movies, TV shows, sports, and more. All that is left is for you to choose which type you want and browse through the numerous options Exodus provides.
While knowing how to install both Add-ons is excellent, it would be even better if you knew which one was better than the other. People have their own experiences, but Redux is said to be better due to a few advantages.
- First and foremost, it is entirely free.
- The content library has possibly every movie or TV show that you may want.
- Its library is updated regularly, and there are shows which have had their newest episodes uploaded just a little while after being aired.
- It is faster than most add-ons.
- It employs the best scrapers, which are also very fast, called Open Scrapers.
The Usage of Exodus Kodi Addon
Firstly you should get to the homepage of Kodi. Now choose add-ons on the sidebar menu on the left and then choose Video add-ons. Once you do that, you should see Exodus among all the add-ons listed. Click on it to open Exodus Addon.
Once you open it, you will be able to navigate over several folders, which include movies, TV shows, sports, et cetera. Now you can freely use it up to your preferences.
Problems with Streaming on Exodus
While the newer version of the Addon shouldn’t have streaming issues, I can help you if you experience them.
There are a few reasons why you might be facing problems with your Exodus (Kodi or Addon). If your situation involves not being able to stream TV shows, movies, or other content, I would suggest that you reinstall the Addon by going through the steps provided above. If by chance, you are still running on the older version that was accessible via TVAddons, your only solution to make it work is for you to install it again through the usage of Kodi Bae Repo as I described it above.
If your issue isn’t one of these, or the solution I provided doesn’t work, you can feel free to show your case in the comment section below. I will try to help you as much as I can, but also other users may have faced your problem and may have the solution already.
A question that is frequently asked: Are Exodus Redux & Exodus different add-ons?
Both add-ons are very different. Exodus is an older version that was canceled and later brought back – highly used back in the day. Redux is a better and newer version, that even though it has its roots in Exodus, has more popularity than Exodus was.
Both add-ons explained in this article are on-demand Kodi add-ons used for streaming TV shows and movies. They both provide an extensive content library, and you may be able to find titles from all years in them. Both add-ons offer a wide range of content for all ages and of every genre you might be interested in exploring.
Once again, as I close this guide, I have to remind you that Exodus or other Kodi add-ons are legal as long as you are streaming content that is available for the public domain. However, we are not responsible if you stream copyrighted content as it is illegal. To avoid any unpleasantries, make sure to have a VPN installed. This installation is not to allow you to do illegal acts; it is more to protect your privacy and ensure you have safe navigation.
I surely hope that this article has been helpful, and I would highly appreciate it if you would leave your thoughts and concerns in the comments below.
